Dr. Carlos Ponce is the General Coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy, a network of over 300 leading civil society organizations across the Americas. An expert on human rights, environmental justice, civil society, and democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), he is also a lecturer at several US and LAC universities and a member of the steering committees of the World Movement for Democracy and the ISC Community of Democracies. He is the Co-editor of the policy-democracy magazine "Nueva Politica". He successfully founded and led several nongovernmental organization that develop justice-reform and conflict-resolution programs at the local level and advised several civil society organizations, including student/youth movements in several countries of Latin America. He previously worked as Lecturer at Tufts University, Executive Secretary of Venezuela’s National Human Rights Commission, Professor at the Venezuela’s Central University (UCV)and the Univ Catolica Andres Bello (UCAB) and as an adviser to Vnzla Congress.
